Google Translator for iOS now translates us what you see by our iPhone camera

The Google translator is a tool that is especially useful when we go abroad and don’t have no idea of the language spoken in that country, so we have an immediate appeal not to get lost among streets with Cyrillic characters that don’t know what they mean. And as already I have a few months ago (in December), the Mountain View were adding the technology World Lens to its application for smartphones.

Android has already received this functionality makes a few weeks accounts, allowing us to point the mobile at a poster written in a language that is not ours and get a translation that attempts to camouflage among the forms of the actual object, by maintaining certain graphic coherence in real time.

It means looking at the camera

This type of technology are not exactly modern, by which some have already years behind him, but importantly this update of the Google translator is that comes together that functionality with the power and experience of Californians to serve us always the best possible results.

With the introduction of World Lens, the translator of Google allows us to see our language any text in English and vice versa for, incidentally, take advantage of any translation and that we get to take you to the French, German, Russian, Italian and Portuguese. Eye, an important detail (and that is vital when we travel without data rate) is that the application works or not we have internet access, so it becomes especially useful as a travel companion.

Quick or selective translation

One of the great advantages that adds Google Translator to your iOS application is that we can see that that puts on Tin Parnell’s well in real time (the image on the left above) or taking a photo and selecting the text that you want to translate. For this last option only will have to point the finger the area that we want the program to do we understand and already is. We will thus achieve a text that you can copy and paste into any other application for more information, details, etc.

Finally, the translation of voice is also updated and shows us that we are talking about as the conversation develops. One of the added improvements is that Google translate will begin to ‘hear’ nothing but enter that option, to not waste time and, more importantly, will be able to detect the language in which we are talking. This way, if we have an urgency not we will have to walk with the phone by touching the screen.
